Censorship *w@t??*

One of an article in Interactive@thestar section caught my attention.

Title : Censors’ ratings make no sense

So, what is it about? Here are some pick outs from the article…..

Memoirs of a Geisha and Final Destination 3 were rated “U”.

….Just because a movie doesn’t have nudity or killing does not automatically mean it is suitable for general viewing…..

….In Geisha, there were no nude scenes, but the movie revolved around devotion of a woman to a married, unattainable man. It also showed how a geisha would choose a man of an appropriate class & title to deflower her,….

….As for Final Destination 3, it was too violent to be rated “U”…..There were murder scenes every 15 min or so, and each one was even more disgusting & horrifying than the previous one….

Eight Below – new movie by Disney, starring Paul Walker & has been rated “18” by our censorship board – as written by the same write of the article. *wow* a film by Disney rated “18”? I’m really eager to see what’s the story like to be rated “18”….

I agreed with the writer’s point of view, as I’ve watched both the movies. I stil remember the experience watching Final Destination 3 in cinema with gal-fren last Monday. When it shows “U” I was so surprised as I know we are watching Final Destination but how come it’s “U”? *hehe* at first I really thought we went into the wrong cinema but my friend convinced me we are in the right place….until then I'm only really confident when the show starts….truly horrified….

Besides, to my surprise that after reading the article only then I kno Geisha was also rated “U”??? Oh my….alto I’ve finish the novel only the movie was in cinema, I’ve expected that the movie will not be rated “U”….bu..bu…but… it’s not? <*oopss!* i watched tru DVD so i din realize d rating til tis article *hehe*>

Lee Hom's 2006 Promo Tour

It’s been a week since I went to Lee Hom’s 2006 Promo Tour. That was my first up-close & personal look of Lee Hom. So near but ‘big bareers’ were set in between us… hey don’t think I perasan la. Read further then you’ll get what I mean ok….the words of wisdom… don’t jump into conclusion before knowing the story *LOL*

Okok, let’s get back to my story… well I don’t mean that this is the first time I see Lee Hom but it has been few times…concerts include rite *hehe*. Just that tis time it’s real close. Wel, it was his last stop at Penang, Gurney Garden for his Promo Tour in Malaysia.

It all started out like this…

Saturday

Joey : hey gal, wana go Pg on Monday? Lee Hom’s here.

Me : oh yea, he’s here, sure I would like to go but…I couldn’t make it. I got something up on tuesday

Joey : ok then, good luck 2 u.

Me : enjoy urself there….

~toooot~

Sunday

Me : hey gal, stil goin to Pg tomoro?

Joey : yea, why?

Me : hahaha I can make it d, let’s go together.

Joey : ok c u then….

~toooot~

Monday

I meet up with Joey at Megamal to go together. It was stil early so we went for window shopin & we did bought some things thou. Stil early, ok lets go for a movie.

After movie….

Oh, stil early…where to go? Not hungry too. Nvm then we just head on to the location and wow lotz of people there, waiting to go into the site. As we kno, entry by ticket. Haha but we don’t have. We plan to just stay outside the fencing to watch, er….actualy it was far away from the stage to get a better view of Lee Hom.

We head on to grab some coffee at Coffee Bean first, since it’s stil early. Chit chat n ‘pat pat’ a bit on passer-bys there *haha* .

Almost 8pm, expected Lee Hom reach, but we kno artist not on time =p. we went back to get a nice spot to peep form outside, not bad stil can see. Then *haha* when he’s here screams everywhere as usual, but one unusual thing is, *hehe* the entrance now left unsecured, anyone could just enter. Yahoo! feeling lucky, Joey & I went in without hesitation, not only us but lotz of others do so

Feeling lucky again, both of us tall enough to see over hundreds of popping heads. Then few songs passed, it’s autograph session. I don’t really expect that i’ll have the chance to get his autograph… BUT… alto my Mandrin’s not that good but stil can understand a lil’, heard the announcement made that he’ll sign for everyone having his latest album.

50% of my doubts answered. Another 50% is, am I gona have it signed? Almost an hour of his autograph session, the chance is here. Our section is opened to enter, pushes all around, 3rd round…YES!!! I make it trough, felt like “oh…I’m free..” free of wat? oh freed from being pushed around of cos *haha*. While waiting, both of us have thought of a few words to say it to Lee Hom. Was so excited I got to see him so near, right in front of me, but felt like it so easy….but after that it was not easy after all..WHY?...

Cos, the security was so tight, no photo taking on stage with him. Besides that, I still remember how fans was treated, cos I’m one of them *wink*; Joey went first followed by me right behind. While Lee Hom was signing for her, she was being held by the arm to be led away off the stage, and I’m one of the ‘victim’ before mine was taken by Lee Hom to sign, they already held on to lead me off the stage! So sad & heart-broken. We don’t even get the chance to say few words to him to ask him “keep it up & take care!!”…..

However, I was even heart-broken cos seeing him thinner than before & tired especially his hand. Tired of signing hundreds of booklet, with a lil cushion placed on his lap to support his tired arms….. No pictures taken, but his autograph i got it *wink*

Wel, tat’s it! My experience with Lee Hom. Joey & I told ourselves that we’ll never miss the chance to go for his concerts & we’ll go for the front sits…YEAH!....

~ B!o9R@phy-Lee Hom ~

Lee Hom (Alexander) Wang, was born in Rochester, New York. He studied music at Williams College and the Berklee College of Music. Hailing from Williams College, a liberal-arts college in Massachusetts, Lee Hom furthered his education at Berklee with (Jazz Piano & Composition). He has become one of the many new songwriters and musicians revolutionizing the Chinese music industry. He is active in all areas of musical production, from composing to producing, to arranging pieces, to writing lyrics (although he did not learn to speak Chinese until he was 18), to playing instrumental accompaniments, to directing his own music videos.

Lee Hom comes from a high pedigree of academics; his father is a pediatrician, his brother is a doctor now residing in Chicago, his younger brother is a student at MIT, and most of his relatives are doctors. Like much of his family, Lee-Hom had considered pursuing a medical career. Having been high school valedictorian and receiving a 1600 on the SATs, he was accepted into Princeton and Yale. However, at the last minute Lee Hom realized his true passion was for music. Amidst criticism from his family, Lee Hom decided to attend Williams College to pursue his dream to become a musician. Although this decision was unconventional, Lee Hom was willing to take this risk and his choice has proven to be a wise one. By combining western music with classical Chinese instruments, Lee Hom has given a unique twist to Chinese music. Having eleven Mandarin albums to his credit, Lee Hom has yet to produce an English album but remains as one of the main songwriters/producers for Sony Music Taiwan. He also owns Homeboy Studios both in Taiwan and Boston.

On his tenth album, Shangri-La, Lee Hom incorporated the often unheard music of the minorities of China into a style he coined "chinked out". He experimented with the tribal sounds of China, Tibet, and Mongolia; traveling the area carrying 15 kg of equipment while fighting bouts of altitude and food sickness. His next album will be released on 31 Dec 2005, and he has infused elements of Beijing opera into the songs, continuing the "chinked out" spirit. Not much about Lee Hom's personal life is known, much to his credit. Unlike many of his Eastern and Western counterparts, Lee Hom has kept his private life to himself and his dignity intact - he is a musician first and foremost. Lee Hom is quoted as saying, "Rumours don't bother me much now, although it's still annoying at times because it isn't true. I just don't want to come out and make the news bigger. I do music and I want to focus all my energy on this and have no desire to use tabloids to promote myself. I don't want to waste my energy holding press conferences to deny my relationship with certain people or to say that I am not gay because it's just not in my interest." It is this aspect of Lee Hom's character that many fans respect. His work has influenced recording artist and fellow Rochestarian Del Rivers.

  12. Lee Hom has an "amazing" tongue; some tricks he can do with his tongue include, touching his chin, his nose, rotating his tongue 360, and tying a cherry stalk.
  13. Lee Hom was a vegetarian in high school.
  14. Lee Hom has perfect pitch, which means he can identify pitch by ear. He also can play most pieces of music by ear, and hence doesn't usually need sheet music.

  17. He has a Widow's peak.
  18. He has to brush his teeth before recording.

  21. He is not able to eat very spicy food.
